Welcome to Hummel Park
Hummel Park is the
largest township park (at just over 200 acres) in the state of Indiana, with features that most
communities just dream of having. A 3.5 mile paved track, multiple
picnic shelters and gazebos, nature trails, expansive playgrounds,
Performing Arts Center and a Community Center are just a few of the
amenities that draw people from surrounding counties to Hummel Park.
The park also contains various sporting venues such as basketball
courts, sand volleyball courts, softball diamonds and a soccer field for
your recreational needs. Centrally located only 1.5 miles from the I-70/SR 267 interchange, it is
the perfect spot for housing special occasions with families and friends.
Hummel Park was founded in 1984 on
land donated to the township by the
state. The park was named after Jim Hummel, a former township trustee and
one of the many people responsible for the drive to found a township park.
Straddling the banks of White Lick Creek with a 300 foot wooden bridge,
Hummel Park is both a place for activities and a place for relaxation. On
the east side of the bridge are sporting venues and playground areas. On
the west side of the bridge are nature trails, wooded areas with mature
trees and the Performing Arts Center, host to many local and national
performers. Also on the west side are five smaller ponds and one
large five acre lake. These water areas have picnic tables
benches and public fishing. |
